How long should a live band soundcheck take?

The time depends on the size of the band and production. A simple acoustic act may need only a short check, while a full band with multiple monitors, playback, lighting cues and guest inputs needs longer. The important point is to agree on a realistic schedule before event day.

Does every band need a soundcheck?

Most live acts benefit from one. At fast festival changeovers, a detailed line check may replace a full-band check, but this requires accurate technical information and an experienced production crew.

Should guests be present during soundcheck?

Usually it is easier to complete before guests arrive, particularly when the PA must be tested at performance level. Some venues cannot avoid overlap, so organisers should agree on the least disruptive approach.
