Exit Plan

An important part of the wedding reception is the farewell to the bride and groom and you need to work out beforehand how it will happen. Below is a list of options.

Farewell Circle: Auld Lang Syne ( Traditional )

This is one of the most traditional ways to farewell the happy couple as all the guests take their places and both the bride and groom can either go together in the same direction or go in separate directions. Each guest is thanked individually and they are given their opportunity to say a personal farewell.

Farewell Arch (or Sparkler Sendoff) : To any song (Choose below)

is formed by the guests standing in two rows and holding hands with the person opposite to form an arch. The bridal couple then runs through it. Not many people are a fan of it because it is less formal and only takes the couple a few minutes to go through. If the couple prefers a quick exit then this is a fun way to do it and is easy to execute quickly. Once the MC announces that an arch to be formed, most guests will assemble quickly. This is particularly good for larger weddings.

If they want to stop to thank some key people in the line then it is much easier to do if they’re walking slowly.

Quick Exit:

Some couples may decide not to be so formal and may simply ask the MC to announce they are leaving. The MC may ask the guests to applaud as they leave.

The Last Dance Exit:

For the last dance of the night the MC will invite the bridal couple to join the other guests on the floor. Once the song is ended, the couple can then wave their goodbyes and be on their way as the guests wave them off.
